How Accurate is the SpiroFit Analyzer?

It is not practical to provide a single accuracy figure for the SpiroFit Analyzer, as real-world conditions can vary widely and we anticipate our device being used in a variety of real-world scenarios.

Instead, we report precise accuracy for individual sensors under controlled settings. For complex metrics like VO₂Max, fixed accuracy claims may be misleading, so we only share sensor-specific accuracy values rather than overall figures for calculated results.

Sensor performance sets the limit for test device precision, though these systems do not fully reflect human use.

O2 Sensor

CO2 Sensor

Inhalation-Based Calibration

The SpiroFit Analyzer self-calibrates with each inhalation, leveraging air’s constant oxygen (20.95%) and carbon dioxide (0.04%) levels, which remain consistent across altitudes.

400 Measurements per Second

SpiroFit accurately differentiates between inhalation and exhalation at 400 measurements per second, outperforming slower devices. It also adjusts respiratory gas concentration calculations by considering humidity changes during inhalation.

O₂ Sensor: Linear Calibration

The O₂ measurement uses a linear sensor curve. Given 20.95% oxygen is fixed, the 0% oxygen calibration point (zero voltage) is easily determined.

CO₂ Sensor: Thermal Conductivity

The CO₂ sensor gauges air’s thermal conductivity. It uses inhaled air (0.04% CO₂) as a reference for exhaled air, focusing on the inhalation-exhalation difference for relative measurement, which unlike absolute systems, prevents physical drift.

Each SpiroFit is automatically calibrated during use and factory-tested to ensure accuracy:

  • Devices are checked with a medical-grade flow-volume simulator.
  • Respiratory gas simulations are performed on every unit before delivery.
  • Two resting measurements are taken by test subjects.
